Rebecca Anderson PhD

Rebecca Anderson, PhD, is recently retired Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Director of Integrated Mental Health in Pain Management Center at MCW.  She is the author of over 70 peer reviewed articles, 6 book chapters, and 2 books.  She served as Secretary of the WI Examining Board and is currently a board member of Wisconsin Psychological Assn.  Clinically she was a member of a comprehensive pain management program which encompasses musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain, and headaches working with Anesthesia, Neurology, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation teams.  She utilizes CBT, mindfulness, use of apps, imagery recordings, and biofeedback as part of an integrated approach to address adjustment and improve function and quality of life for patients.  She served for years on the Froedtert Hospital ethics Committee.

Dale A Bespalec PhD

Dr. Bespalec has been a licensed psychologist in Wisconsin since 1978. He has served as the President of the Wisconsin Psychological Association and the Dean of the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Bespalec is currently Professor Emeritus at WSPP and the elected Wisconsin representative to the APA Council of Representatives. He maintains a consulting and clinical practice in Milwaukee.

Markus Brauer PhD

Markus Brauer is professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is primaily affiliated with the Psychology Department but has secondary affiliations in the Wisconsin School of Business and the School of Medicine and Public Health.  Born and raised in Germany, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder (1994).  He then worked for 17 years as a research scientist in the “Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique,” the French counterpart to the National Science Foundation, before joining the University of Wisconsin in 2011.  As a social psychologist, Markus Brauer studies the social aspects of human cognition and behavior.  He develops and tests interventions aimed at changing people’s behaviors in a variety of domains, such as diversity, energy consumption, and workplace behaviors.  He is the author of more than 100 scientific articles and chapters, has obtained numerous grants, and is member of the editorial board of the top scientific journals in his field. He is also the Executive Director of the UW-Madison Institute for Diversity Science.

Madeline Bliske PhD

Madeline Bliske, Ph.D. is a post-doctoral fellow in psychology. Throughout her practicum placements, she has gained experience providing both individual and group therapy as well as completing educational and psychological evaluations within Milwaukee Public Schools, community mental health, and private practice settings. Madeline graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee doctoral School Psychology program and completed her internship at WellPower, a community mental health organization, through the University of Denver Graduate School of Professional Psychology Consortium. She has experience conducting evaluations with bilingual (English/Spanish) children and adolescents, completing neurodevelopmental assessments (i.e., attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder), and using a therapeutic assessment approach to offer a strengths-based evaluation and recommendations.

Riley Brey

Riley Brey is a senior at the University of Wisconsin Madison getting a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a criminal justice certificate. He is interested in forensic psychology concerning the evaluation of competency to stand trial and the treatment of juveniles. He has internship experience at Mendota Mental Health Institute where he shadowed many different proceedings (group therapy, individual assessment, etc.) and assisted in competency to stand trial research.

Leisl Bryant PhD ABPP

Dr. Bryant is a licensed New Hampshire and Massachusetts-based clinical  and forensic psychologist, with board certification in Forensic Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. She received her B.A. from the University of West Florida, her M.A. and Ph.D.  in clinical psychology from Duquesne University, and completed a forensic postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical School Law and Psychiatry Program. Working in both criminal and civil arenas, Dr. Bryant has maintained a private practice in clinical and forensic psychology for nearly two decades and has provided psychological services in a variety of forensic and therapeutic settings. Dr. Bryant is a Fellow with the American Academy of Forensic Psychology, and formerly served as President and Executive Director of the New Hampshire Psychological Association (NHPA). She also served on the NHPA Ethics Committee for over ten years, received the Margaret M. Riggs Award for Distinguished Contribution to Psychology in the State of New Hampshire, and was awarded the Karl F. Heiser APA Presidential Award for Advocacy.  Dr. Bryant brings extensive experience in forensic, clinical, and ethical consultation, academic instruction, and professional presentation to her role on the risk management team.

Lynn Bufka PhD

Lynn F. Bufka, PhD, ABPP is Associate Chief, Practice Transformation, at the American Psychological Association. The Office of Practice Transformation and Quality focuses on the development and implementation of programs and policies related to supporting and expanding opportunities for professional psychology. Current areas of emphasis are population health, evidence-based practice, clinical practice guideline development and defining the direction of the future of psychology education and practice. Dr. Bufka is an advocate for science to support practice and practice-based evidence to inform research and policy. Dr. Bufka frequently serves as a media spokesperson for APA on these topics as well as clinical topics, stress, telepsychology and other policy matters relevant to professional practice. Prior to coming to APA, she was affiliated with Boston University and the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD) (1996-2002), serving as Associate Director of the doctoral clinical training program and Director of Practica Training at CARD. Additionally, Dr. Bufka is a Maryland licensed psychologist, board certified in clinical psychology and continues to provide treatment and clinical consultation on a limited basis. Dr. Bufka received her PhD in psychology from Boston University. She is a Fellow of APA’s Division 12 (Society of Clinical Psychology) and a Fellow of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and a member of the Asian American Psychological Association.

Richard Clark PsyD

Dr. Rick Clark is a Child Clinical Psychologist in private practice at St. Francis Children’s Center, a nonprofit, nonsectarian agency serving regular and special needs infants, children and their families. At St. Francis he has worked extensively with staff and families to serve children with a wide range and severity of disabilities in an integrated setting. He spent four years as Lead Psychologist for the Milwaukee office of Integrated Development Services, a provider of comprehensive in-home services for autistic children. Dr. Clark is Associate Professor at the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology and an adjunct faculty member at Marquette University and Cardinal Stritch University. Dr. Clark earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University, his Master’s in School Psychology from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, and his Doctorate in Child Clinical Psychology from the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology. His professional interests include autism spectrum disorders, learning disability subtypes, pediatric mental health, attention difficulties, anxiety and mood disorders and problems in the development of socialization and interpersonal problem solving skills. When he’s not working (which isn’t often) Dr. Clark enjoys listening to and performing music, singing in a choir, reading, and golf. 

Steven A Elkind PhD

Dr. Steven A. Elkind received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology-Los Angeles in 1976.  He has worked in California, New York, Illinois, and Wisconsin, with a wide variety of outpatient and inpatient populations. In Wisconsin, Dr. Elkind was Executive Director of the HRC Mental Health Center in Superior as well as inventor of the Lutefisk Bagel.  He was Director of the Schroeder Child Inpatient Center at Milwaukee Psychiatric Hospital.  Dr. Elkind has been a private practitioner and supervisor in the Madison area since 1999, providing direct services and consultation to individuals and organizations. He works with individuals, children, and adolescents, and has a particular interest in couple’s therapy.  He trained at the Gestalt Therapy Institute of Los Angeles from 1973 through 1976, and completed certification in January 1977.  He has maintained his interest in Gestalt Therapy through a wide variety of training activities.  In the early 1980’s, Dr. Elkind served on the Board of the Gestalt Institute of Chicago, teaching the theory portion of the Professional Training Program.  When living in Milwaukee he developed the Gestalt Therapy Center of Milwaukee.  His Gestalt Therapy Center of Madison has been up and running for over two years.  The Center trains therapists and students in the theory and practice of Gestalt Therapy.  Steve's work emphasizes how awareness and choice organize experience.

Bruce R Erdmann PhD

Dr. Erdmann earned his doctorate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and has been licensed in Wisconsin since 1989. He has worked in multiple settings ranging from private practice to prisons. He was the Internship Training Director for the Division of Adult Institutions, Department of Corrections from 2010 to mid-2018. He served on the Psychology Examining Board April 2007 – June 2014 and was Chair 2010-2014. He joined WPA in 1989 and in 2022 he received the Karl F. Heiser APA Presidential Award for Advocacy.

Jonathan T Grapengieser PsyD

Dr. Jon Grapengieser is a licensed psychologist who received his doctoral degree from the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology. He provides clinical supervision and consultation as well as psychological evaluation and psychotherapy at Professional Services Group, Inc. Dr. Grapengieser also oversees a variety of other clinical programs in both Milwaukee and Washington County. He currently serves on the Wisconsin Psychological Association (WPA) Board of Directors and is a Past President of the Association.

Karyn L Gust-Brey PhD

Karyn L. Gust-Brey, Ph.D. has been a licensed psychologist since 2000. She worked in the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC) Division of Juvenile Corrections (DJC) for 13 years as a psychology intern and a licensed psychologist. She has worked for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) since 2013, where she was a unit psychologist; a psychology supervisor in the completion of inpatient competency evaluations, competency restoration treatment, and psychological evaluations in an adult forensic program; and now the director of the psychology department and training director for the psychology internship/postdoctoral fellowship. She also periodically provides psychological services and consultation for youth placed in the juvenile treatment program. She has taught graduate assessment courses and has supervised practicum students, externs, predoctoral interns, and postdoctoral fellows in assessment. She has been providing outpatient psychological evaluation services to the greater Milwaukee area since 2009. She has experience in expert witness testimony.

Vanessa Hintz PsyD

Dr. Vanessa Hintz is a licensed clinical psychologist, workshop leader and keynote speaker. She is also a self-proclaimed `Psych Geek,` and incorporates elements of popular culture into her work when beneficial. Dr. Hintz utilizes expertise in psychology and human behavior to provide insights focused on principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. She advocates for environments and relational ways of being that promote inclusivity, foster engagement, and allow individuals to show up each day as their most authentic selves.

Tracy Luchetta PhD ABPP

Tracy Luchetta, PhD, ABPP, obtained a doctoral degree from the clinical psychology program at Southern Illinois University in 1992. She held an appointment as associate professor in Human Development, Psychology, and Women's Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay until 2003, when she accepted a position as staff psychologist at Winnebago Mental Health Institute. In 2010, she transitioned to the position of Director of Psychology at WMHI. She was board certified in forensic psychology in 2012. Since retiring from state service in 2018, she conducts forensic mental health evaluations for the courts primarily in the areas of competency to proceed, criminal responsibility, and suitability for conditional release.

Benjamin Katz MS

Benjamin Katz, M.S. is a practicum student at the Center for Behavioral Medicine and a clinical psychology Ph.D. student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. They co-facilitate the DBT skills training group for LGBTQ+ adults with Dr. Kim Skerven.

Brianna M Montano PsyD

Dr. Brianna Montano, PsyD, is a licensed psychologist with Sherman Counseling, where she provides a wide variety of comprehensive outpatient services. Dr. Montano administers assessments to individuals ages 4+ and provides evidence-based therapy for children, teens, adults and seniors. Assessments include evaluation of autism, ADHD, bariatric surgery candidacy, gender affirming surgery candidacy, and differential diagnosis. Presenting concerns for therapy include stress, adjustment, anxiety, depression, trauma, thought disorders and personality disorders. Dr. Montano also does consultant work for the Department of Corrections, providing sex offender treatment evaluations. She has a particular interest in severe mental illness, adjustment to the community after prison, and the LGBTQIA+ community. Outside of the office, Dr. Montano enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, camping and hiking.

Ben Rader PsyD

Ben Rader is the current and ongoing leader of WPA's Public Education Committee (PubEd).  He has presented on a broad range of topics including the promotion of social justice, diversity, and cultural healing.  He practices in the greater Milwaukee area, and is a member of  North American Society for Adlerian Psychologists (NASAP) and the American Psychological Association (APA).  He is also the Executive Director of the Milwaukee Affiliate for Social Living (MASL), a NASAP affiliate with a three-pronged purpose of Personal Growth, Professional Development, and Community Enrichment.

Rachel Reinders-Saeman, PhD

Rachel Reinders, PhD (she/her) earned a Master's degree in Community Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) in 2012 and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from UWM in 2017. She teaches at Alverno, where she is currently the program director for the Community Psychology program. She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a licensed psychologist. She currently works at a private practice providing individual and couples counseling services. Rachel is the current president of the Wisconsin Psychological Association and is an active member of the National Latinx Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, and the American Psychological Association. 

Megan Schiferl, LPC

Megan Schiferl, LPC is a certified DBT clinician through the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification and a licensed professional counselor. She sits on both the adolescent and adult comprehensive DBT programs at the Center for Behavioral Medicine. In addition to serving as individual therapist and skills group leader, Megan also supervises trainees and early career counselors and offers specialty training DBT in their teaching and training programs.

Kim Skerven PhD ABPP (she/her)

Dr. Kim Skerven is a member of the WPA Board of Directors and serves as the current WPA Advocacy Cabinet Director, and is a Psychologist at the Center for Behavioral Medicine in Brookfield, WI. She is a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified DBT Clinician who works in a certified comprehensive DBT program. Dr. Skerven sees individual clients, conducts DBT skills training groups, and supervises trainees. Dr. Skerven currently serves as the Director of WPA's Advocacy Cabinet.

Mary Tait MS

Mary Tait, M.S., is a doctoral student in psychology at Marquette University. She currently works as a psychometrist at Psychological Assessment Services where she provides assessment services for children, adolescents, and adults including court ordered evaluations and community referrals. Mary obtained Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Psychology degrees from Marquette University. Her master’s thesis explored the association between women’s experiences of hostile and benevolent sexism and career aspirations. Mary’s research interests include forensic evaluation of juveniles, psychometric properties of commonly used assessment measures, and best clinical practices for justice-impacted youth.

Leticia G Vallejo PhD

Leticia Vallejo, PhD is a psychologist working in Primary Care Mental Health Integration at the Zablocki VA Medical Center. In addition to her clinical work, she is an active member of the Advancing Diversity across Psychology Training (ADAPT) workgroup and the Culturally Responsive Practice training rotation. Her professional interests include integrated care, brief interventions, psychological assessment, culturally responsive care, social justice, and training.

Kavitha Venkateswaran PhD

Kavitha Venkateswaran, Ph.D. is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Clinical Training Coordinator in the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology at Marquette University. She was previously employed within a VA Medical Center and has extensive experience working within integrated health settings and advocating for social justice initiatives within psychology practice in a medical center. In 2022, she was named the Early Career Award Recipient through the Health Psychology Section in APA's Division 17.

Lyndsey Wallace PsyD ABPP

Dr. Wallace is a board certified clinical health psychologist who works in adult oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She joined the MCW faculty in 2016 in the Department of Psychiatry. She divides her time between teaching graduate students and residents and serving oncology populations both outpatient and inpatient. She works with patients ranging from newly diagnosed through recovery and into survivorship.  She is known for taking a collaborative approach to care and working with each patient to develop individual treatment plans to address their needs and restore quality of life. When she is not working she loves going on fun outdoor adventures with her husband and three children but is just as happy curling up in her sweats and having a family movie night with popcorn and lots of chocolate!
