THURSDAY, APRIL 3, 2020 - Keynote Speaker

Jonathon Comer, PhD
“Stepping Outside of Our Comfort Zones: Expanding the Reach and Scope of Clinical Psychology in the 21st Century"

Dr. Comer is highly recognized as a leader in the field of clinical child and adolescent psychology. He has received numerous early career awards from APA and other organizations, he was named an APA Fellow in 2016, his research has received funding from NIMH, the National Sciences Foundation, and the Int’l OCD Foundation among others. He is currently Director of the Mental Health Interventions and Technology (MINT) Program and Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at Florida International University and is serving as President-Elect of APA Division 12, the Division of Clinical Psychology.

Pardeep Kaleka, LPC
“Healing in the Aftermath of Hate”

Pardeep is a native of India and grew up as a first-generation immigrant in Milwaukee. He is a former police officer and educator for at risk high school youth. Currently, he is a community consultant and trauma therapist who works with survivors, community partners, policy makers, law enforcement, mental health practitioners and educators to build healthy social fabrics. He has authored “The Gift of Our Wounds,” founded the non-profit Serve2Unite, sits on the Mental Health Task Force Steering Committee and the Sikh Temple of Milwaukee Board of Trustees and has delivered numerous keynotes on cultural inclusion, the role of faith in healing, racism, the immigrant experience, mental health and the growth of hate crimes in America.

“Ethics and Risk Management in a Digital World 2.0”

Technology is unavoidable in any type of psychological practice. This workshop will address strategies for managing digital record keeping, managing online and social media risks, ways in which technology will increasingly impact the practice of psychology, the role of PSYPACT and emerging approaches to the practice of telepsychology.
